  1. Red Dog AOTM, how do you feel about that?
Chuffed and humbled to be included in such elite company!
  2. When did you join, and what attracted you to the club?
I joined 2 years ago after returning from 25 years in Dubai. I literally bumped into an old training partner whom I had lost contact with in the 90’s, Andrew Fuller, who is a member and recommended RedDog.
  3. How much training do you do at the moment?
3 run, swim and rides a week. About 8-12 hours.
  4. What’s your favourite session and why?
Track Tuesday!! The only way to really push yourself on a run. Also trying to see how many people I recognise with their clothes on….ie from swim squad…in case you were wondering 😁
  5. Who’s your ideal training partner and why? Swim, Bike, Run
Swim – Christian – can’t beat having the world’s best in your age group to chase for motivation!
Bike – Steve Mann – not often I can train with someone and get to call them old man!
Run – anyone who runs a bit faster than me – so a big chunk of the squad!
  6. Favourite motivational quote?
You don’t slow down when you get old, you get old when you slow down.
  7. The one bit of advice I’d give to a newbie is?
    Consistency is key.
  8. What’s your next event?
‘A’ race is the Worlds, Wollongong in October. Before that Brisbane to the Bay ride, Wellcamp Duathlon, a few ParkRuns.
  9. What do you do outside of training?
Having spent 2 years separated from my family during Covid, anything with the family! I’ve also recently taken up lawn bowls… nice to be the youngest in a club for a change!
  10. What’s your one guilty pleasure?
Oooooh I can only pick one? Actually when you get to my age there is no guilt. An almond Croissant and Cappuccino on my rides is right up there though.
