Lee Craigen
1. Red Dog AOTM, how do you feel about that?
Very grateful. There are a number of good athletes at the club who consistently show up.
2. When did you join, and what attracted you to the club?
I joined when I relocated to Brisbane around August 2024. I thought Trent’s swimming coach resume would help me improve my swim!
3. How much training do you do at the moment?
I have been taking it easy since Cairns Ironman, so still training every day but spending some more time in the gym to build some strength back up.
4. What’s your favourite session and why?
I would say Track Tuesday with the squad but it has been a while (due to injuries) since I have been down there so I’ll give it to Monday PM swim squad.
5. Who’s your ideal training partner and why? (Swim, Bike, Run)
I will give it Cam-dog and Oli Laws. They’ve been “ideal” to get me to nearly-Busselton and actually-Cairns. If they aren’t available then Lionel Sanders seems like good craic.
6. Favourite motivational quote?
You play with the cards you’re dealt. Life philosophy.
7. The one bit of advice I’d give to a newbie is?
Turn up and don’t overthink it. Makes it easier given how friendly the Red Dog squad are. Consistency matters most.
8. What’s your next event?
To be confirmed.. Lee is the 5th most common name in Taiwan, so I might see what the Lees are up to.
9. What do you do outside of training?
Outside of training? I work (to pay for training) and occasionally work on my social skills.
10. What’s your one guilty pleasure?
No guilt here. I used to spend time looking at what countries I could travel. Now I spend time looking at what countries are cycle / triathlon friendly.
